Moving Closer To Game Testing Companies

You did realize that you will have to move to where all the video game companies are if you want a game testing job didn't you?

Good... I thought so.

Every now and again you might hear of those people making six figure incomes just sitting at home, but let me tell you they are the rare exceptions. You really are better off basing your life around winning the lottery than getting a job like that.

Now to get a proper game testing job, your best chance is to move to a city

where there are a lot of video game companies. This means more potential positions to apply for, and more opportunity to expand your skills and gain experience in the industry.

Not just that though, there are plenty of other benefits of moving to any area with lots of game companies.

You will be able to drop your resume in personally (a big plus) and you'll be able to talk to and get to know the people in each of the companies. Also, you can get a huge advantage over other game tester applicants by getting involved in the larger local industry.

With a bit of work (and a bit of luck too) you can build a big list of reputable contacts who can help you get a job within their company... or at least notify you of any open positions.

But moving cities is a big step... you have to be very careful before making any sort of decision.

That said, if you do choose to move to another area to pursue a career in the video game industry, you really have to commit to it. Even if nothing works out to begin with, you've still got to stick things out... backing out now is going to be a huge waste.

To be sure you make the best decision for yourself you will have to do a lot of research of your own. You have to look at areas where there are a lot of different game companies within commuting distance.
